Swimming Piglet

Its always such a cute sight to see the tiny little piglets isnt it! This video really shows just how attached these little critters get to us. It also shows what a wonderful loyal pet and friend you will have when you adopt one of these amazing animals.

This little guy is of course extremely young and demonstrating the survival instincts of any baby animal. He has bonded to the humans who have adopted him and its in his best interest to stay close…but I have to ask, who wouldn't feel incredibly maternal with a baby like that to look after!

I prefer it when piglets are kept with their own mums until they are at least 8 weeks old…but makes for very cute footage…

We have bottle fed and hand raised piglets and we have been known to lay with them all night when they couldnt sleep, or give up social events because we couldn't take them with us…suckers!!  Baby anything's get me in, but piglets….pretty darn sweet they are!!

Interesting tip:

Training your pig to sit on command is relatively easy.

Holding a treat just over your pig's snout and then move the treat slightly behind your pig's head. Your pig should naturally fall back to follow the treat. Remember to say the command 'sit" and reward your pig with the treat as soon as its cute little bottom touches the ground.

Sometimes piglets will try to jump up and snatch the treat. Don't allow the piglet to take the treat if this happens. Tell your piglet "no" in a firm voice and start the training from the beginning.

For the next few day, keep practising this trick with your pig and within a few days it should be sitting on command.
